Festival 2007
Since our first festival in 2001, Youghal Festival Committee has successfully
organised and staged nine festival weekends. This has helped to
promote Youghal and encourage visitors to our town. We are now
recognized on the
map of festivals throughout Ireland and abroad. The cost of staging
such events has increased yearly and we as a committee have found
it more difficult
to obtain sufficient funding to maintain this very high standard
of “free” street
entertainment. As a result, the committee regrets to announce that
Youghal Festival will not be staging a festival weekend in 2007.
This decision was
not taken lightly. I would like to take this opportunity to thank
every member of the committee, both past and present, which have
helped to make Youghal
Festival’s such a huge success. These people (too many to mention),
have given up their time week after week, year after year and without
this commitment and effort this would not have being possible.
